Sally Hansen Salon Effects review

In today's post I'm going to review an amazing nail product that I would totally recommend. One of my good friends actually bought this for me a little while ago, knowing how much I love anything to do with nails and I was pleasantly surprised.

First of all just from the box you can see how pretty the colour is, mine were in the shade 'Glitz Blitz' a beautiful light gold glitter but they come in many other shades and designs too.
In addition to 16 polish strips, in the box you also get a mini buffer/file so that you can prep your nails and file off the excess once applied and a cuticle stick for smoothly adhering the strips to your nail plate without any bubbles.
As I took them out of the packet, ready to put them on before a Christmas party, I noticed that I quickly managed to find the right size for me - something I rarely find with nail wraps/false nails. They fitted the width of my nails perfectly and my sizes were chosen in an instant.

Having already buffed and filed my nails I started applying the polish strips. What surprised me the most was how much they really feel like actual polish! They were a little tacky but not so much so that once they were on that was it, you had time to rearrange where it was placed which definitely helped make the application as smooth as possible. Once the strip was placed, I smoothed it down over my nail plate using a combination of the cuticle stick and my fingers to ensure there were no bubbles and then filed the excess off the edge of my nail using downward motions and it came off like a dream. Suddenly I had had perfectly polished professional looking nails!

When it came to removal (these lasted roughly a week on my nails) I simply took them off with nail polish remover as I would any normal polish! Despite these being made of glitter polish they came off excellently.

Overall, I would definitely recommend the Sally Hansen Salon Effects nail strips to everyone, especially those wanting a proffesional looking manicure in minutes

Thanks for reading my first review comment down below what you thought or if you have any suggestions as to what I should post next xxx

5 ways to get festive!

Something I've noticed as I've got older is that I just don't get that excited, Christmassy feeling that I used to when I was a kid. It's really important to me to enjoy each of the seasons as much as possible and these are a few ways I get festive at Christmas.

1. Listen to plenty of Christmas songs!
This is so important to me because I seriously adore nearly every Christmas song out there whether it's a traditional one like Hark The Herald Angels Sing or  newer like All I Want For Christmas Is You. Music is what made my Christmases magical when I was younger and they still have the same effect today.

2. Make your surroundings cosy.
The main thing about Christmas is that it's in winter (if you live in the northern hemisphere) and you want to feel like it's chilly outside even if it isn't quite that cold yet. I do this by having the heating up, the lights low, covering myself with blankets and sitting in front of the fire.

3. Films for me totally make Christmas magical because they just bring back memories of family Christmas movie nights sitting together with a box of Roses. In addition to this, they give you a chance to escape to somewhere really magical where anything can happen and miracles occur. My all time favourite Christmas films would be Elf and The Polar Express.

4. Christmas baking is something we do a lot in my house and to me it just means that Christmas is really here. It's a time where you can pretty much eat what you like so the more Christmas treats, the better! Not only do you get something delicious as a product of it but also the time you spend together creating that thing and the smells produced (especially if you're making something such as Christmas cake, mince pies or gingerbread) just create a seriously festive feeling.

5. My final tip to help you feel festive during this excellent time is to host or attend Christmas parties! Just surrounding yourself with your friends, family, food and music just make Christmas really special because to me, that's what it's all about.

Merry Christmas, I hope you have a wonderful time and best wishes for the new year xxx

Christmas mani

My most recent mani was one for Christmas using OPI's 'what's your point-setta' (a bright red) for my base colour and Barry M's 'Christmas tree' (a glitter topper with green and red glitters, silver stars and silver hexagons) over the top. I really wanted to do something festive for the weeks running up to Christmas and I was desperate to use my new polishes so this was the result!

Although I've only recently started using OPI polishes, I really love the formula of the ones that I've tried so far, they glide on so well and are really pigmented (you could easily get away with one coat if you were in a hurry). Although I have the mini version of  'what's your point-setta' I found it really easy to use which I don't always find with mini bottles.

I have always loved Barry M nail polishes and 'Christmas tree' is no exception. I did originally think that it was going to be a little thicker than it was but when I put it on I was really pleased. It's so pretty and très festive. Over all a top notch mani :)

Introdution to my blog

 Introduction to my blog

Hi everyone! Welcome to my blog. My name is Freya, I’m 16 years old and I intend to create a beauty blog. This includes makeup, nails, hair and skincare because all of these are my passion. I absolutely love to experiment, try new products and review them. I might also include a few seasonal things because making the most of the whole year is really important to me and I’m sure there are plenty of people who believe so too. I’ve been into beauty for a really long time, basically as long as I’ve been allowed to wear makeup (which is about 4 and a half years) and I’ve been painting my nails since I was about 10. My aim is to inform and entertain anyone reading my posts who are interested in beauty by reviewing and giving my opinion on products and also amuse them with what I hope to be a unique blog! I understand that there are loads of beauty blogs out there and I hope to write one that doesn’t feel so samey.
Thanks for reading my first post, hope you enjoyed and stay tuned for some more beauty related content!
